Overview (Program Summary)

New and existing privacy laws, data hygiene and the ability to respond to security attacks can create a diverse set of demands and concerns for counsel. Being ready for each of these concerns, however, should start with an understanding of the type and location of data that a company holds. This first half of the presentation will discuss how to create and maintain a data map—a map of where data is located, how it is managed, and how long it is kept. Such a data map is a critical part of:

Complying with privacy laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act, HIPAA, GLBA, GDPR, and new laws coming online in the near future,

Responding to breaches (including ransomware attacks) and;

Making sure that data is secure.

The second half of the presentation will apprise companies of the steps they need to take in the event of an attack. Come and learn from the war stories of an expert in the industry.
